‘Laugh Die You II – The mob’ unites Malaysia and Singapore

Laugh Die You 2

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2: If football can unite a community, then the same can be said about the Malaysia vs Singapore comedy show, ‘Laugh Die You II – The Mob’, staged last night at HGH Convention Centre here.
The so-called ‘battle of the witty’ between Malaysia and Singapore’s noted comedians, united an audience of over 2,000 from both sides of the divide under one roof for two and a half hours.
Needless to say, Malaysia’s Harith Iskandar and Kavin Jay and Singapore’s Jonathan Artherton and Fakkah Fuzz, with Gurmit Singh, also known as ‘Phua Chu Kang’ as the ‘arbiter’, kept the audience in stitches.
Brusque may be the word to describe their style but without doubt the stars succeeded in bringing across the message they wanted to convey in a relaxed and entertaining way.
“Whatever our skin colour, under this roof we are all one and can sit and laugh together without any problem,” said Harith during his performance.
At the end of the day, it was not really a matter of who were the more talented comedians because what was obvious was the character similarity among them despite being citizens of two different countries.
“Malaysia and Singapore are like brothers, we are not rivals but we are actually one family … my message tonight is to live together,” said Fakkah Fuzz.
“Laugh Die You” is a translation of the Cantonese phrase, ‘siu sei lei’ and the second and last day of the comedy show today, is expected to draw a bigger crowd of 4,000.
Organised by Popcorn Studio Sdn Bhd, the show is a follow up to the “unfinished” Malaysia vs Singapore epic laugh battle last May.
