"Baahubali" gets Cambodian, Thai releases

Having carved a name for itself as the highest grossing Indian movie of all time within India, the first part of the two-part Indian epic "Baahubali" (also known as "Baahubali: The Beginning") is now slated to open in seven more territories.

The movie will soon open in Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia, Variety reports, as well as Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Timor-Leste. 

Fans at the seven new locations will finally get to see the record-breaking blockbuster that features a not-to-be-missed battle scene during the final 35 minutes, with an ambiguous ending that paves a path for the second part, "Baahubali: The Conclusion". 

Originally budgeted at USD40 million for both parts, producer Shobu Yarlagadda revealed that the budget had gone up USD10 million following the success of the first movie. The production knows that fans are now anticipating a grander follow-up to it.
The Telugu movie, which was also simultaneously shot in Tamil and dubbed in Hindi and Malayalam, made history when it became the first non-Hindi movie that manages to rank in the top ten as India's biggest earners. 

It is also currently the third global highest grossing Indian film of all time with its USD92 million worldwide gross, placing just behind "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and chart-topper "P.K." 

Directed by S. S. Rajamouli and starring Telugu actor Prabhas, "Baahubali" tells the tale of Amarendra Baahubali, the saviour of the commoners, who is respected and worshipped like a god by the people of his town. His son Shivudu's return to the village marks the beginning of a fight against evil. 

"Baahubali: The Conclusion" will resume shooting in November and is slated for release in 2016.
