Indrani Kopal, A Malaysian Indian Filmmaker Wins Award At Cannes Film Festival

 

Malaysian filmmaker Indrani Kopal won the Best Student Documentary Award with her film The Game Changer at the American Pavilion’s Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Game Changer is a documentary film focused on how a dance instructor, Susan Slotnick uses dance as part of a rehabilitation programme at a correctional facility in New York.
Previously, The Game Changer had picked up an award for Best Short Documentary at the Harlem International Film Festival in New York.

Indrani is currently doing her Masters in Fine Arts - Documentary Studies and Production at Hofstra University in New York.
