Bollywood veteran Shashi Kapoor gets Dada Saheb Phalke Award

 

Bollywood legend Shashi Kapoor was bestowed with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award which is the highest honour in Indian cinema.It is given by the Indian government for an outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema.
In the past, this 77 year old actor has won 3 National Film Awards and also received the civilian award, the Padma Bushan in 2011.
Shashi Kapoor debuted in Dhamputra and acted in blockbusters like Kabhi Kabhi and Deewar. Rather than that, he also produced critically acclaimed Bollywood movies like Kalyug, Vijeta and Junoon. He became a Bollywood icon in the 1960s and 1970s and acted in British and American films.
This legendary actor is the 46th winner and is the 3rd in the Kapoor family to receive the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Furthermore, this award was also conferred to his father, Prithviraj Kapoor, a theatre and film actor, and his elder brother Raj Kapoor, who is also a well-known actor, producer and director.
